Proverbial was created using Adobe Illustrator as a final project for my CAD for Fashion Design class.
About the Collection I've been working my way through the bible & developed an interest in Proverbs 31:13-25, a section in the Old Testament describing the ideal woman according to King Lemuel - "...an inspired utterance his mother taught him. (Proverbs 31:1)" After studying the text & reading various commentaries, I found the passage to be incredibly motivating and empowering, thus inspiring an entire collection.
I combined muted pastel colors with loose-fitting tent silhouettes to create a clam, gentle motif- representing the inner peace I've developed ever since I chose to re-devote my life to Jesus. It sounds super cheesy, but ever since I made faith the most important thing in my life, I knew an integration of my beliefs into my design and wanting to bring glory to God through my work was quite inevitable.
I wish I could just instantly give this feeling to everyone I meet - the sense of purpose and perfect peace that trust in the Lord brings - but that's a little easier said than done, so I've decided creating a collection inspired by it might be the next best thing!
Details - Each piece is to be made with linen fabric, symbolic of verse 24 - "She makes linen garments and sells them;" - Fitting components will include buttons, zippers, and elastic. - Pants will have a slit on the side ending just below the knee - Each garment named after a woman in the bible - Ideally I'd construct each garment from white linen & then use natural dyes to add color
